Description

Virtually all squamous epithelial cells must show a moderate to strong, distinct cytoplasmic staining reaction (Demonstration of CK-HMW).

Virtually all hepatocytes must show an at least weak to moderate cytoplasmic staining reaction typically with a membrane accentuation (Demonstration of CK-LMW).

Note epithelial cells of bile ducts will show a strong cytoplasmic staining reaction and cannot be used to evaluate analytical sensitivity (Demonstration of CK-LMW).

No staining reaction in lymphocytes.

Note interstitial/interdigitating reticulum cells may show a weak to moderate cytoplasmic staining reaction due to expression of CK 8 and 18.
