A tumour is indicated as 'ambiguous' if the CK type is found in more than 10% and less than 90% of the cases.

a.c.: adenocarcinoma, c.: carcinoma, sq.c.c.: squamous cell carcinoma.

1. Merkel cell c. is CK20+ while other neuroendocrine c. and carcinoid are CK20-.

2. lung mucinous bronchioloalveolar carcinoma is CK20 amb. while other lung a.c. are CK20-.

3. uterine cervix sq.c.c. is most often CK7+, while esophageal sq.c.c. is CK7 ambiguous and lung sq.c.c. is CK7-.

4. acinic cell a.c. is CK7- while other types salivary gland a.c. are CK7+.

5. seminoma is CK7- while other germ cell tumours are CK amb.

6. chromophobe renal cell c. CK7 amb. while other renal cell c. are CK7-

7. synovial cell sarcoma is CK7 amb. while other sarcomas are CK7-
